Under 25 Car Insurance

Can you get get Cheaper Cover for Under 25's Online?

You may have just passed your driving test and are planning on buying your first car. It is possible to save a huge amount of money, up to £800, when it comes to car insurance for young drivers.

There are a number of things you can do to lower your car insurance as a new driver.

The first item on the checklist is to take a Pass Plus course with an approved driving instructor. This will not only make you a better driver on motorways and at higher speeds but can also reduce your car insurance premiums.

Specialist insurers (see our car insurances quote page) will give up to a 20% reduction for completing this worthwhile course. Check with the insurer before you go ahead with a policy though.

It is possible for you to save around the equivalent of 1 years no claims bonus (about 35%) with certain companies.

You could also consider displaying 'P' plates. This should make other drivers aware that you have just passed your test. There is, however, some evidence that suggests a good number of experienced older drivers don't know what the 'P' plates mean.

It pays to be decisive, even if you don't plan to start regular driving straight away, as your driving test pass certificate (D10) is only valid for 24 months.

Our advice is to get the cheapest quote you can, get only the essential basic cover, and build up your no claims bonus over the next few years.

If you have the funds, you're all ready to hit the highway, consider basic car insurance as a new driver. The most basic cover in for Third Party only. This type of cover is best suited for your car if it is fairly cheap to purchase in the first place (see car insurance cover page for a full explanation of cover.

We would suggest you get a car with a low insurance group, a Group one would be the best as far as cost goes, or a Group two would be fine. This does mean the car is likely to have a small engine but that means lower running costs anyway.

It is essential that you use a specialist provider for Under 25 car insurance

However easy is it is to compare your car insurance online, research indicates that 85% of people don't bother changing. It doesn't take long to get the quotes in - well under 60 mintues in out tests.
