168,000 - No Car Insurance Cover ?
A recent survey by Sainsbury's Insurance shows many young drivers, over 168,000, have driven without the correct level of cover. In the last twelve months the survey responses showed:
- 168,00 17 - 24 year olds admitted driving without enough insurance cover
- 115,000 35 to 44 year olds didn't have all the right financial documents in their possession
The Salisbury's Insurance research found over one million
drivers could be tempted to drive without insurance altogether if premiums
became too expensive.
This doesn't bode well. We all end up paying extra for our insurance every
time another person is found to be driving illegally and then gets involved
in an accident.
Richard Clark of Sainsbury's Insurance said, "Uninsured motorists are a
serious problem and we estimate that it adds over 6.5 per cent to premiums,"
He added, "It's not only dangerous, but it's also unfair to expect honest
drivers to pick up the tab and we would urge those motorists who are tempted
to break the law to consider trying to reduce the cost of motoring without
dropping insurance."
The AA British Insurance Index does show premiums heading higher. The answer
to getting lower car insurance is by making sure you shop the online market.
