The AA British Insurance Premium Index has shown that since 2004, average premium quotes have reduced by 3.6 %.
All non-comprehensive cover on the other hand has gone up by almost 10%. The index has shown the following average
insurance quotes (from quarter three of 2006):
- Comprehensive Cover – Average yearly premium increase up 1.24% to £772.57. The average for this cover was £777.57 towards the end of 2003.
- Third Party – Average yearly premium increase up 4.62% to around £998. The third party cover mainly affects younger drivers as they tend to take out this cheaper type of cover.
Since the AA index started in 1994 this cover type has doubled, and premiums have gone up by 21 % over the last 24 months. With premiums heading ever upward it makes seeking out the best deal even more important if insurance costs are to be reduced. per month
